It is with great sadness that I deliver this news - Yurex, a NY greymuzzle, whose passion for photography and film brought him tirelessly to every furry convention that he could manage, passed away this weekend. After suffering a heart attack and stroke, he fought hard, but was unable to recover.
You may not have known him, as he was by and large a quiet man, but there's a good chance he knew of you. His recording equipment would never miss a fursuit parade, and he was always capturing the moments we make together in celebrating our fandom. I'm proud to have known him over the last 15 years, and will miss him terribly.

You know the exhaust issue I had last week? Brought into the mechanic and he said he removed one of the catalytic converters and replaced it with a straight pipe. He said my car has two, one before the flex pipe and one after. Is this going to be a problem and should I ask for it.

Depends on the O2 sensor placement and if your ecu is going to read them correctly. If its the rear cat that was removed and not the primary and O2 sensors and well before the cat removed then you should be fine... albeit if they put your car up on a lift and see its missing based by state law you might fail

If it was glowing red.. means either the substrate was clogged due to fouling from oil burning or excess fuel being dumped into the exhaust. You probably have other issues with your engine that need to be addressed

It's CO, not CO2. it comes from incomplete combustion. So a gas or oil furnace that has poor maintainance is the common source. Generators in the attached garage or shed will produce deadly atmosphere that seeps into the house. The fuel gas in older times was not natural gas but coal or coke gas. It had a very sifgnificant amount of CO in it. So if your gas stove was releasing unburned gas into the home, it was qute deadly even if it didn't blow the place up.

I mentioned it to him last month and he told me the tires needed to be balanced. Now he’s saying the front brakes were bad so he replaced them. There’s just a lot he did without as much as a phone call. I told him I still need the rotation and balance so he’s doing that for free tomorrow morning. 😑

Could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on if there’s any bugs introduced. Personally I look less and less forward to these new updates every year. The changes I like usually could have been introduced with a point update instead of a whole new OS. It seems they’re making it more and more like Android every year. Really the only thing so far I kind of like is the implementation of RCS and that it’ll still be a green bubble.

brake pads don't get painted or coated. Rotors usually get coated on the hats or full coated then brake pads wear off the grabbing surface for corrosion resistance

I think so too. What’s interesting is like my car says I can go 5K between oil changes, and even gives me a notice ahead of time, but he wants me to come in at 3500 on synthetic. Maybe it’s an upsell, maybe not, but it seems to be more expensive.

Synthetic is more yeah. They seem to be better tuned for more modern engines but then again you may want to check the owner's manual or Google it

Some synthetic oil can go up to 10,000 miles between changes, but that's mainly designed for vehicles that put a lot of mileage on in a short amount of time (like our fleet vehicles).

Generally once you do go Synthetic it's usually not recommended to go back to conventional oil except in an emergency situation

Even then in most cases it's not super critical to change the oil at the exact interval.

Just don't put it off too long and wind up like me who blew up an engine once because I was too broke

Generally speaking, 3000~5000 miles is the average for most cars unless you have reason to suspect oil burning, leaks, or other reasons to keep an eye on the oil reservoir
